What we've been up to

The girls have been finger painting, while I painted old music pages (can't show you for what, since it's a gift!) I still have so many gifts to make. It seems like every year my gift giving process goes well into January just because there aren't enough hours in the day.

I finally got to printing again, and I found out a wonderful thing. If you wet the mulberry paper beforehand it takes the ink really really well. Downside? Well it dries wrinkly. So my next step was to make a bit of a makeshift paper press, and it seems to be working. If it works I'll share what I did.

And here's my crowning achievement for the month, the girls big Yule gift, a 3 foot by 3 foot playscape I made of recycled sweaters and fabric. It's all hand stitched, with embroidered and yarn hooked details. I particularly love the cave I made. It's stiffened with a big fat copper wire, and I'm hoping it will hold up to the abuse my girls can give out. It was a lot of work to make, but it was so worth it. Watching them squee and dive in to play with it was all the thanks I needed.
