Thrifty Art Thursday

So I'm totally planning on doing this great tutorial on how to make a kid's apron out of a fat quarter and a package of bias tape. But then I was feeling bad yesterday and today I'm taking my girls out to their Ooma's house to decorate her tree and eat Christmas cookies.

I'll get there. I'm trying to balance a no pressure attitude toward the blog along with continuing to produce useful stuff. Today, no pressure wins.

So here's a couple of things that caught my eye today:

My felted sweater bag tutorial has been going around and this Italian blog linked to it! They show some great ideas for felted stuff. I'm totally inspired by the wreaths. I love the bright colors.

My other favorite thing I discovered today was this awesome alternative Christmas tree:

I found it on this cute little blog about all things vintage Into Vintage. I'm really loving this fun bright christmas idea, breaking out of the red and green into hot pink and blue. It makes me want to redecorate!

  1. I love that alternative tree!

That's very cool that your sweater bag made an international appearance :-)

It's hard to balance that no pressure blogging approach. I find big, useful posts exhausting to create and it used to mean I hardly ever posted. I've changed my approach a bit to share things I've made in simple posts with photos but few words. I decided I'd rather share more often in a less 'useful' format than share rarely but usefully. I still try to do a useful post once in a while but my hope is that even the non-useful ones are inspiring and may spark ideas for others.

I've been enjoying your sharing of your sketches... actually I enjoy all of your posts :)

  2. Oh I can't wait to see how to make an apron for kids...my 2 year old has lost hers and I've been resorting to a rather large cast off sweatshirt of mine...needless to say the sleeves ALWAYS end up dipped in paint!
I love the christmas tree from baubles and the felted wreath, such wonderful colours and great ideas!
Thankyou for sharing! And congrats on your international success :)
